I have a couple questions. 1. how often would i have to replace the electrodes? 2. are these argon or neon?

the electrodes can last you a life time as long as it is taken care but since inside the glass it is filled with gas if you break, or even the slightest crack the gas can leak out. With the purchase of this machine you already receive a set of the Neon gas electrodes (3 of them-spoon, mushroom, pen shape). You may purchase Argon gas (purple) separately if you would like. Since we are the maker if you ever need parts you may get them all from us.

How big is the hand piece ? The portable ones are very big and hurt my wrist while using AND the power distribution is awful!

No, it is wired machine, and it does NOT work on battery. It is 110 V made for USA plugs.
